A CR-1 visa is a type of visa that is used by Thai spouses of US citizens to enter the country as a conditional permanent resident. If you have been married for less than two years, you need to obtain this visa. Otherwise, you need to apply for an IR-1 visa if you’ve been married longer. A sponsor (the US citizen) normally files for a CR-1 visa by submitting a form I-130, or petition for alien relative. The sponsor must show evidence of financial support for the applicant.
